Visit Aubigny-sur-Nere
Sited in the historic province of Berry, which is now in the Cher department of the Centre-Val de Loire region, Aubigny-sur-Nère is approximately 50mins from the lake and is proud of its Franco-Scottish heritage as the ‘City of the Stuarts’.
Visit Bourge
Bourges is an important town in central France, towards the south-east of the Loire Valley (Centre) region and about 1hr from the lake.
It has a substantial historic centre and two very important monuments – the cathedral and the Palace Jacques Coeur – and is very pleasant to explore.
Visit Apremont-sur-Allier
Apremont-sur-Allier is found in the Cher department, and is approximately 45mins from the lake and on the border with the Burgundy region.
Visit Sancerre
Sancerre is a small town situated above the Loire River about 20 minutes from the lake. Best known for the quality white wines produced in the surrounding vineyards.
Visit La Charité-sur-Loire
Just 15 minutes away is the beautiful and medieval town of La Charité-sur-Loire, surrounded by the ramparts next to the gorgeous Loire River. It’s famous for the Clunisian priory.
